Some people have the natural ability to be charismatic, outgoing, and confident from birth. But not everyone is so lucky. If you’re looking for ways to develop a well-rounded personality without being too uptight or too easygoing, here are 6 tips that will help you do just that!
Be more outgoing
If you’re naturally shy, like I was at one point in my life, it can be tough to become comfortable interacting with other people. But even introverts should make an effort to branch out and interact with the world around them!
How do you try to get more outgoing? What specific steps do you take each day?
Being more outgoing is an important part of developing a well-rounded personality! Here are some tips to help you try to become more social.
Socializing with friends
If you already have friends, then spend time getting to know them better! For example, I realized that most of my close female friends shared similar interests in clothes and makeup. I decided to hit the mall with them and we had a blast each time we went out shopping together!
Do you have any hobbies that tie into your friend groups? For example, what do you like about your group of friends so much? What is one new thing you could experiment with to get closer to your buddies?
If you don’t have a group of friends yet, make a point to join clubs or teams at school. Most towns and cities have opportunities for free hobbies that will help you meet new people!
Speak up in Class
Don’t be too concerned about sounding stupid. If you don’t understand something in class, ask for help! Teachers expect students to come talk to them when they need assistance, and that will only work to your benefit in the long run.
Have you ever had a teacher tell you that your participation in their lesson raises the quality of everyone’s learning? Do you volunteer to answer questions in class or do you wait until your hand is raised by the teacher?
Volunteer at an animal rescue shelter
Animal shelters are full of cute dogs and cats that need homes! If you’re not sure if you’re ready for the responsibility of owning a pet, volunteering to take care of animals will help you get used to the idea.
Explain how it feels to take care of another living being that depends on your actions – do you feel more responsible? More confident? How do other people respond to your pet experience?
If you already have a dog or cat at home, try walking shelter dogs/cats during your free time. Your pet will appreciate the company and eventually you’ll become comfortable handling another animal!
Get involved in local politics
If you’re old enough, meet with your elected officials and voice your concerns! You can also research current issues and weigh in on how we should move forward as a community.
Have you ever had an opportunity to get more involved in local politics? What were your responsibilities and how did you feel about your role in the community?
Most towns and cities have multiple ways for residents to voice their concerns! If you can’t meet with elected officials, consider volunteering for a political campaign or attending public hearings.
Get out of your comfort zone and try new things
If you’re going to college soon, take a class outside your major. If a club or sport doesn’t interest you, try attending a meetup! Get to know new people who enjoy different things than you do and widen your perspective on the world.
How has this list of tips helped you get out of your comfort zone? Do you have any new hobbies, interests, or skills? How do your friends and family feel about the changes taking place in your life?
Most people have a narrow view of the world because they only hang out with those who have similar personalities. Try meeting someone from another country or city! You’ll learn so much from them and will gain valuable life experience to add to the list of things you can do.
If your friends and family aren’t willing to join you on new adventures, find a group online! There are so many meetup groups in every city and town that will love having new members.
These six tips can help you develop a well-rounded personality that is not too uptight and not too easygoing. The list of tips should give you some ideas on how to get out of your comfort zone, try new things, make friends in the process, and find groups online who will love having new members!
